I feel so honored to be part of The Boston Printmakers 2013 North American Print Biennial: one of the most prestigious events in printmaking. It is a juried show sponsored by the Boston Printmakers and the Boston University College of Fine Arts. The Boston Printmakers is an international non-profit art association based in Boston, but representing artists from North America including all part of the United States, Canada, Mexico, and Puerto Rico.
Boundless was juried into the show by juror Dennis Michael Jon, associate curator in the department of prints and drawings at the Minneapolis Institute of Art. This year, 2,400 entries were submitted. Jon narrowed the final selection to 130 works.
Boundless is a combination of carborundum collagraph, solar etching, and collage on a full sheet of BFK paper. I asked Jon why he chose my print and he said he loved the simplicity and yet strong image i used and the fact that I let the pieces of the collage go over the margins. He also liked the composition with the 3 red lines on the left side.
Check out the story that appeared in BU Today.
I have another print in the show, Mysterious Message. It is a jury exempt work by the executive board members of the The Boston Printmakers. I serve on the Board since 2006. I feel honored to be part of a such great printmaking community.
